After medium use of browser, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and phone calls (maybe 12 hours total), I am happy to report that the G1′s low battery life with the OEM battery (that comes with the phone) has been resolved!

With just three hours left to three full days, I had 7% remaining power. Three days is far better than the 12 to 15 hours use I might be lucky to get with the OEM battery.

Best part is that the battery and cover cost $18 total (shipping included) on eBay! I provide the link to the seller on eBay, in the video. But in case that does not show up, it’s eBay seller meig2006

I was a bit cautious of buying a battery from a Chinese seller (lots of low quality batteries coming from China, as you know), but this seller had great feedbacks from people who had bought this exact setup. Besides, at $18 it was worth the gamble.

As a bonus in the video I conduct weight comparisons on a postal scale of the phone with the OEM and extended batteries.
