At the bottom is the connectivity layer where any transmission technology can be used and the voice traffic will transfer over ATM/AAL2 or IP/RTP.

In easy way to explain , 3G IS A SPEED OF NET WORK , regular speed is 47 Mhz then egae is about 167 Mhz and then 3G is about 3to 4 MB and operates on UMTS and after that is HSDP wich up to 6MB ,,,,,all this are speed of trafficing the DATA ,,,,becouse it is fast so person can watch live TV or live two way video calling,,,,
these are the major deffirences but if you don’t need that much data to transfet so you don;t need 3G phone regular phone are good and operating on 2G and 2.5G for better info you can go to http://www.att.com and click under learn then open the page for 3G , writen in a very nice way to understand.good luck

3G means Third generation technology means that high fi technogy of this new world.In this system Video Talking and Navigation systems techenology available in 3G Mobile.
